5 Very Cool Winter Indoor Camping Ideas from Yogi

February is not too far away. While waiting for Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park to reopen soon, families can utilize their homes and all the indoor spaces for camping fun and play. While imagining warm, sunny days at Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park, try some new camping recipes at home this winter season. The best ones can be used later at the campgrounds. This will help to ensure that camping food will be liked by all. It is a great way to pass the time while waiting for Yogi and friends to come out of hibernation.

Enjoy these four indoor camping ideas this winter:

  • Turtle S’mores Bites: Indicative of the classic campfire s’more, these warm, savory treats are sure to be a new family favorite. During camping season, they can be stored in plastic containers and brought along for an afternoon snack or evening dessert. Some tasty components of this treat are pecans, Rolos, marshmallows, and graham cracker crumbs. For the full recipe, check out The First Year Blog.
  • Mini Grilled Pizza: Making pizza from scratch is always fun. Kids and adults alike enjoy choosing different toppings to make their pizzas just right. Plus, making them at home allows for more health-conscious ingredients and preparation choices. Because they’re grilled, they’re also campfire-friendly. For the full recipe, check out this post from Tablespoon.
  • Campfire Cones: Like s’mores, this dessert is crunchy, gooey, sweet and delicious. Purchase waffle ice cream cones, then fill them with marshmallows, chocolate, and other ingredients like fruit or a candy favorite. Then, wrap them in foil and heat them in the oven (if at home) or over the campfire. For more information, check out this post from Hip2Save.
  • Read some camping cookbooks: Feeling motivated to find even more delicious campfire recipes? Check out a few books like Deb Graham’s Hungry Kids Camp Fire Cookbook. This book has excellent reviews on Amazon and is sure to have creative and fun ideas for the whole family. Zac Williams’s Hungry Campers: Cooking Outdoors for 1 to 100 is another great book for finding campfire recipes.
